The Kitzinger connection
In 1897, in Kitzingen, the pharmacist Paul Arauner founded Germany's first pure-culture yeast institute open to everyone. On 31 May 2024, after 127 years, the business in Kitzingen closed; the product line is continued by Jordan Craft Wine Service GmbH (Eibelstadt) under the name Joenos. Maischewerk carries this range and also sells remaining original stock from its own warehouse in Aachen (as of July 2026: around 17,000 units, about 3,000 of them in the old packaging).
