Sulphiting is about protecting wine and must from oxidation and preserving aroma and colour. Wineguard is a sulphur powder based on potassium metabisulphite that you use for stabilisation and preservation, for example after fermentation or when racking off the yeast.
The division into ten portions of 1 g each makes dosing in the hobby cellar simple and precise. Add the sulphur to your wine, must or juice as needed. Sulphur preparations should be used carefully and sparingly; observe the notes on the package, and take the exact amount from the package instructions.
- Contents: 10 x 1 g sulphur powder (potassium metabisulphite)
- Suitable for: wine, must and juices, e.g. after fermentation or when racking
- Use: add in portions, dosage as per package instructions
- Note: use carefully, observe the package instructions
- Brand: Joenos
Manufacturer information:
- Active ingredient: potassium metabisulphite (E224)
- Can also be used to sterilise equipment, corks and bottles, and as a barrier liquid in the airlock
- Airlock barrier liquid: plain water during fermentation; for storage, dissolve 1 g in 50 ml of water (large airlock: 2 g in 100 ml), without acid. This gives a potassium metabisulfite solution of about 2 %, i.e. about 1 % SO₂. Never let potassium metabisulfite come into contact with acid, not even in the same container: toxic gas is released.
- Highly hygroscopic - use opened sachets immediately
