Arausan is potassium metabisulfite in convenient portions. In the wine cellar, it serves two purposes: it stops fermentation when needed and disinfects equipment and vessels before use.
The pack contains ten individual sachets of 1 g each, so you have a pre-measured amount for every batch and never have to weigh anything yourself. How much to use for which purpose is stated on the pack. This is a sulfite, so work carefully, avoid raising dust and stick to the specified dosage.
- Contents: 10x1 g potassium metabisulfite
- Suitable for: stopping fermentation and disinfecting equipment
- Application: dose as per package instructions
- Brand: Arauner Kitzinger
Manufacturer information:
- Active ingredient: potassium disulfite (E224)
- Dosage for sulfiting: approx. 10 g/hl or as required
- Airlock barrier liquid: plain water during fermentation; for storage, dissolve 1 g in 50 ml of water (large airlock: 2 g in 100 ml), without acid. This gives a potassium metabisulfite solution of about 2 %, i.e. about 1 % SO₂. Never let potassium metabisulfite come into contact with acid, not even in the same container: toxic gas is released.
- Also for preparing aqueous SO2 solution and for sterilizing equipment, corks and bottles
