When the fermentation really gets going or the mash rises in the still, the foam quickly pushes over the rim. This antifoam breaks the foam so that fermentation containers and the still do not overflow.

You add it during mashing, during fermentation or during distilling, wherever too much foam forms. How much you need per batch is stated on the bottle.
